The Lower Matecumbe Mermaids, a group of community- minded ladies who enjoy giving back to their community, raised $2,600 during their recent sixth annual holiday fundraiser to benefit Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys (VNA/Hospice) mission of care.
VNA/Hospice Director of Development Kim Sovia-Crandon said, “The Lower Matecumbe Mermaids are a fabulous and giving group of remarkable women. They have become a special part of our VNA/Hospice family. Their annual fundraising events help to further our mission.”
Proceeds from the event will be used in the Florida Keys to support unreimbursed programs, as well as compassionate, quality home health and hospice care for the residents of Monroe County. Lower Matecumbe Mermaids Spokesperson Krissy Gustinger said, “VNA/Hospice has touched the lives of so many of our family members and friends over the years, so there is no better way to celebrate the holiday season than giving back to such a worthy charity.”
As the oldest and only locally-operated, non-profit home health and hospice care provider in Monroe County, VNA/Hospice recently became affiliated with Haven Hospice to access greater resources in providing comfort, care and compassion to patients and families in Monroe County to include those in need.
