Artist Sheila Jean Cook Creates 2013 Annual Appeal Cover
Marathon artist Sheila Jean Cook was chosen by the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Florida Keys to create the cover for their 2013 Annual Appeal.
“I am honored to be given the opportunity to provide this year’s cover art for the annual appeal,” stated Cook. “It was both personally and creatively very fulfilling for me to illustrate the loyal bond between VNA/Hospice and the Florida Keys island communities in my work.”
For the cover, Cook created a spectacular oil painting that depicts the map of the Florida Keys accentuated by a backdrop of the VNA/Hospice heart logo.
“The representation of the Keys’ map underscores our dedication and commitment to our community, patients, family, friends and neighbors who directly benefit from contributions made by our supporters,” VNA/Hospice CEO Jody Gross said. “We are fortunate to have talented Florida Keys artists create art to illustrate the true bond between VNA/Hospice and our distinctive county.”
This is the second year that VNA/Hospice has called upon a local artist with the task of designing a cover that incorporates the map of the Florida Keys and the VNA/Hospice logo. Leaving the artist to their own vision and artistic medium, the results have been stunning. Rick Worth was the chosen artist for the 2012 appeal.
Cook owns The Art Studio, a family-oriented art center hosting pottery and glass art workshops, as well as walk-in activities, marrying art education and creativity.
The 2013 Annual Appeal is a request for essential funds which enable VNA/Hospice to provide charitable home health and hospice care to residents of the Florida Keys.
